God also looks through the eyes of every animal
In the old tradition, icon paintings were not just a piece of art, to worship a holy person. Painted with great devotion they pointed at a hidden reality; the reality of The Transcendent. Or in other words, God embodied in human form.
When The Transcendent or the foundation of Life itself, has awoken in us, we have the eyes to see that God does not only look into the world through the eyes of Saints but also through our very own eyes … and the eyes of every animal. It is the seeing that our deepest being is the same being in a cow or a sheep. Their joy is our joy. Their pain is our pain. This art-project ‘Saintient Beings’ is to bring attention to the ways in which we treat the Self as our fellow-beings whose destiny is the meat and dairy industry.

Below icons are a tribute to the beauty and love of all forgotten mothers and their children within the meat- and dairy industry. To raise compassion and honor their natural needs of experiencing their relationship in freedom and wellbeing.
Prints of the works are for sale in limited editions. Only twenty prints of each work are made and sold. The size of the print is the same as that of the original work. Prices will soon be listed next to the image in the 'gallery' (click on the image).
With your purchase you support 'Wakker Dier' and 'Varkens in Nood', two Dutch organizations committed with heart and soul to give voice to those who have no voice. The amount minus printing and shipping costs will be transferred to support them in their work.
